💜 WHY I CHOSE THE SONY FDR X3000 CAMERA 💜
Why did I buy a Sony FDR x3000 action cam instead of a GoPro camera? Well, I had the chance to use a GoPro camera during the time I was "hunting" for the camera I wanted to purchase for underwater filming. My dad and I were helping a friend and incredible field producer capture some underwater footage of my tail and were a bit surprised to see that the GoPro footage turned out looking quite dull... for a lack of better words. Despite the water visibility being decent, the camera didn't seem to pick up the colors of my tail very well. The video project we were helping out with turned out great though, no doubt. The film producer had a wealth of editing skills and color-correction skills that made the dull footage of the GoPro work well with the other video clips. HOWEVER. I still use the most basic editing software out there. I can't even do color corrections on my editing program! Hahaha! 😅

Therefore, I crossed the GoPro off of my list of possibilities and went on to research more underwater camera options.

After watching many comparison videos on YouTube, in addition to review videos of multiple cameras, I decided that the Sony FDR x3000 would be the PERFECT camera for my needs. Why is the Sony the best video camera for mermaids to use? Allow me to explain using bullet-points. 😉

⚪ Beautiful Colors! This Sony camera shoots gorgeous videos and takes great photos on its standard setting. However... it has a "Vivid" setting that enhances the colors of EVERYTHING. My gosh... it makes underwater videos look more magical than I ever thought was possible without SUPER expensive equipment and post-filming editing.
⚪ Image Stabilization ♥ As mentioned in this Unboxing Video, dad and I are both shaky people. We don't hold still very well... this camera was said to have a built-in stabilization (anti-shake) sort of feature that trumps most other action camera out there. Even if you aren't a jittery person, this feature is a must-have for filming in the water, since waves do tend to cause a commotion. After having used the camera a couple of times, I will say that is does counteract my wobbly ways quite well. It isn't perfect... but better than expected!
⚪ It shoots in 4k! I still don't understand what 4k is exactly, but it is apparently the greatest thing since monofins. ♥ I think it is better than HD!
⚪ It is small and PERFECT for vlogging. My Canon shoots beautiful videos & captures photos perfectly. However, it is very bulky and is NOT ideal for travelling with. This Sony action cam is compact & simple to use (once you get the hang of it.)
